hurricanehick: How can I keep my neighbors dog off my property?
I live in a very rural area . My dogs are trained to stay on my land and will not cross the fence line. My neighbor has a large unneutered male that comes over and bothers my dogs, does his “business” on my property marks his territory (My outdoor furniture etc). It has gotten to the point I cannot go out with the dogs without him coming over. I contacted the neighbor and was told buy a BB gun and shoot him. I have yelled, thrown rocks and done everything humanely possible. There is a fence but the line is a long one and he just keeps finding ways to get in. He is not a mean dog, just poorly trained and generally dirty and unhealthy . The neighbors have a history of dogs getting hit by cars, dieing from eating rotten animal carcas’ and yet they let their dogs run wild. I know I have a right to shoot him if he is on my property but I just do not want to go that route.

get a bigger dog!
If he is friendly enough try and leash him yourself and bring him to a shelter. Tell them you found him wandering and didn’t know what else to do with him.Answer by drhdylan88

Call you local animal humane office or ASPCA and file a grievance against your neighbor that might work.Answer by Mamadog
CALL THE POLICE. Call the humane society, have someone come pick up the dog.Answer by norman7774
It is not the dog’s fault.. it is the owner’s fault. I wish I had an answer but do not short of shooting it in the rear end with a BB gun.. that might work and might train the dog but doubt itAnswer by JRW
I wish I had a solution for you. It would be expensive, but maybe you could put up a new fence. We live in the country but there are not any neighbors real close. Our blue heeler mix keeps any unwanted aniamlas away too so we do not have a problem. We have a lot of coyotes around here but she will not let them near our house. Good luck with the problem. Hope you find a solution.Answer by momma dog
Your neighbors are idiots. This dog wants to be your dog. I have the same problem, my dogs don’t run away…. dogs come to me.
I would pick up the dog and take it to a shelter. But, they will just get another dog. Crazy world, hey?
Or you can just care for this dog as your own. That is generally what I do. If he is unhealthy, he is bringing his parasites & viruses to your dogs.
Answer by Megan .There is this product from WALMART, in the seasonal section… It repeals crittersa dn dogs and cats.. just sprinkle it around the perimeter of your lawn to keep that pesky dog from coming around.. we had our neighbours cats come into our garden and od there buisness, it really annyoed my dad, which i can understand, we have a cat of our own, and cleaning that litter obx is a hassle, we don’t need another one to clean, so we used that and the cat doesn’t come around no more.. it lasts for about 30 days, then you have to re apply.Answer by chetco
You don’t have the right in any of our 50 states to shoot him. the only time it is legal to shoot a dog is if he is endangering you or your livestock..And if you claim he was endangering livestock, there must be some blood damage to prove it….And. yep..BB gun is considered the same as any gun when it comes to this….
that being said, you CAN use a super-soaker…the giant water guns at toy stores..They don’t cost much, are fun, and work!
You fill it with 1/2 water and 1/2 vinegar…get the cheap stuff on the bottom shelf……then lay it on him every-time he crosses the line, and squirt it along the fence line in the areas he uses to get in…I save all pickle juice to refill the super-soaker…
electric fence. it will only have to hurt him once.Answer by sportsbabii1001
Please do not harm the dog in any physical way! if its friendly, tell it to go home everytime he comes in the yard. u should reccomend to the neighbor an electric fence, not because the dog keeps going in ur yard, but for the dogs own safety. Or tell them to build a fence. If that doesnt work, there are some spray products where the object smells bad to the dog, so they wont go near the object.Answer by claironet01
call the state u live in and report it
