Miranda: How can I become a dance teacher and a regular teacher?
I am interested in teaching at an elementary school, but I also want to become a dance teacher and open up a dance academy. How can I achieve that? I’ve always wanted to dance ever since I was small but I’ve never had the opportunity, but now I do. I have little experience in dance, but I do plan on auditioning for the dance team at my high school and in college. I also would like to know the salary of a dance teacher who owns her own academy. Thanks.

You can do that with some difficulty! Consider time constrains. I’d choose one or the other.
Check out physical education programs in various colleges. I believe dance is a minor subject in some physical education programs.Answer by Dede7007
I would think you’d get a degree in Education first. You could minor in dance, and when you finish school you could teach school during the day and teach private dance lessons at night and on the weekends. This is how many music and theater teachers start out. If your dancing works out well, and you get a LOT of dance students, then you could possibly get your own studio. Doing both though, is hard work. If you love it and it’s a passion of yours, then nothing can stop you. I wish you well. Good Luck
