Mary Wilbur: How can a teenager break into the art business?
I am a teenager with great artistic skill, and I want to make money off of it. Who can give me some tips on how to get my artwork out there and maybe even make some money?

The easiest part, just go to a nice scenery and draw pictures. That’s when you can lure some people. Then you can tell them that you can draw for them for a good price. Try to sound persuasive, especially since you’ve got those good-looking pictures you’ve drawn/painted. Oh yeah and you should like make name cards so you can pass it to people so they can pass along good words about you to their friends/relatives.
Or else you can always go to the career center in your school or go ask your counselor about it since you are a teenager who is in school, hopefully 🙂
Answer by MOZPick something, and create a portfolio that demonstrates your “great artistic skill.”
Pet portraits.
House or Business portraits
Furniture decoration
Etc.
You will need AT LEAST 8-10 examples, either in a binder, or well photographed, to show people.
Also get some business cards printed that display your chosen “field,” and then hand those out to people. If your skills are truly that great, people will keep the cards, or give them to others they know looking for someone like you.
Get going NOW. Christmas is around the corner, and many people would love to give people pet portraits or house portraits as gifts.
