Mom of 7 gramma of 1: HELP! My Friendship bread starter is multyplying faster than rabbits and gremlins in a contest!?
I have allready given starters to my friends. Now I have them reproducing in my freezer. How can I keep just one starter for myself to perpetuate the 10 day cycle without all the excess ones? My friends won’t answer their doors anymore lol! I think it should be called “Get Even Bread” instead of “Amish Friendship Bread” lol!

i have no clue what you are talking about..Answer by roundtowngirl
haha, sounds like our house.
mom got the recipe herself, and put it in the plastic bag… and she had to go to a class cause she is a teacher, so she was gone for a couple of days, and we were at school, and it exploded cause there was no-one to let the air out! it smelled soooooo gross when we came home.
haha, my advice, bake it. alot of it. only save the minimum that you need to make more and bake the rest. then you can give your neighbors bread instead of goop in bags : )
Answer by Sew What? Why not bake up the Amish bread and put that in the freezer?
You can always start over later. “Get Even Bread”…that’s great!Answer by Snackie
Oh, poor you: over-run with sourdough. Wish I was in your shoes! You have 3 choices:
1. Make new friends
2. Compost the excess starter
3. Step up your baking and freeze the finished product
