Lee wasn’t a Yankee to start out his career, so it’s okay. He thought Philly is the best place to win, and I don’t blame him. They have 4 great starters and the yankees don’t. His decision is about winning. Mabe he had a talk with LeBron on winning.

It is unlikely that “FANS” were an issue for Cliff Lee. He obviously would NOT have signed with Philly if he was looking for nice fans. They have proven themselves as animals repeatedly over the last few years. This decision is location and comfort based.

It is refreshing to see a player not decide by money alone.

Hopefully when the Phils meet they Yanks in the World Series, Mrs Lee will watch from home.

I can’t believe how dumb some of these people are. They are idolizing Lee for taking less money, even though he is getting paid more per season with the Philies than he would have with the Yankees. He supposedly left a lot of money on the table, but you have to add in his next contract covering the extra years.

Obviously not, he’s not the first player to turn down the Yankees even though they offer unbelievable amounts of money. Also the Yankees franchise isn’t the second coming of God, just because he turned down their contract doesn’t mean he disrespects them let alone disrespect the game itself. Also yankee fans taunted and heckled Cliff Lee’s wife when he was playing against them. Therefore no he is not disrespecting the game of baseball.

Absolutely not. If anything, he’s promoted the integrity of the game, realized that the enormous money he’ll earn is an unheard of sum for almost everyone else on the planet, and put his family’s quality of life ahead of the NYY bazillions.
