: Has Cliff Lee disgraced baseball and himself by refusing the honor of becoming a New York Yankee?
Doesn’t he know anything about the history of the Yankees? About the legacy of the Yankees and their overriding importance to the game of baseball? By not choosing the Yankees Cliff Lee revealed just how little he knows about the history of baseball and what it means to be a Yankee. By disrespecting the greatest franchise in baseball, Cliff Lee has disrespected the game itself.

If anything, Lee is showing the baseball community that he’d rather not play for a
team of drugged-up primadonnas and whose fans treated his wife worse than dirt.Answer by Ding-a-Ling Dong
The answer is that Cliff Lee wants to enjoy his life more than he wants an extra $ 30,000,000. Now, that might seem strange to most people, but once you have enough money, what difference does $ 30,000,000 more make?Answer by richard
Yankees suck! Cliff Lee might be my new favorite player and i am not even a phillies fan. way to Cliff. Money can’t buy everyone! he is honoring his wife. If anyone is a disgrace its the yankees fans who spent on his wife and cost the yankees one of the best pitchers in baseball!Answer by Will
It’s obvious that because you guys spit on the wives of opposing players, your legacy is now that of the worst fans in sports.
Miller Huggins, Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Billy Martin, Casey Stengel, Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle and George Steinbrenner are all looking down at you in shame.

You sound like an angry Yankees fan. Cliff Lee is more than about money. I’m happy because he joined my team. Go Phillies. They now have the best rotation in baseball. By the way, thank the fan who spit on his wife.Answer by yankees28
Lee wasn’t a Yankee to start out his career, so it’s okay. He thought Philly is the best place to win, and I don’t blame him. They have 4 great starters and the yankees don’t. His decision is about winning. Mabe he had a talk with LeBron on winning.
I’m a yankee fan.Answer by JOIN Tie Busters!
It is unlikely that “FANS” were an issue for Cliff Lee. He obviously would NOT have signed with Philly if he was looking for nice fans. They have proven themselves as animals repeatedly over the last few years. This decision is location and comfort based.
It is refreshing to see a player not decide by money alone.
Hopefully when the Phils meet they Yanks in the World Series, Mrs Lee will watch from home.
Answer by Don sackI can’t believe how dumb some of these people are. They are idolizing Lee for taking less money, even though he is getting paid more per season with the Philies than he would have with the Yankees. He supposedly left a lot of money on the table, but you have to add in his next contract covering the extra years.Answer by Brianna
I hope you know that there is more to baseball than MONEY and WINNING!! It’s the love for the game. Baseball is suppose to make the players happy when they play it. It’s obvious that you are very upset about Cliff not picking your shitty classless team.
SO HAHA
I laugh because of how mad you yankee fags are because one best baseball players in the league doesn’t like you bitches. So have fun resigning that old ass Arod. Cause in a few years he aint gonna be shit.
HAHAH PHILLY BITCH!!!!Answer by Frank B
Check out this article talking about Cliff Lee signing with the Phillies…and how they don’t automatically have the best rotation in the game quite yet:

Answer by Stefan MillerObviously not, he’s not the first player to turn down the Yankees even though they offer unbelievable amounts of money. Also the Yankees franchise isn’t the second coming of God, just because he turned down their contract doesn’t mean he disrespects them let alone disrespect the game itself. Also yankee fans taunted and heckled Cliff Lee’s wife when he was playing against them. Therefore no he is not disrespecting the game of baseball.Answer by Kolchakcarl
Absolutely not. If anything, he’s promoted the integrity of the game, realized that the enormous money he’ll earn is an unheard of sum for almost everyone else on the planet, and put his family’s quality of life ahead of the NYY bazillions.
