NayNay: GYMNASTICS??????????????
im 14 years old and i really want to learn gymnastics. i did gymnastics when i was 5, then quit for other things. for the next 9 years, there had always been times where i wanted to start up again, but i never did. i dont want to compete, i just want to do it for fun. i really want to learn handsprings and walkovers, and round-offs and flips in general. these seam to be around level 4 and 5, so can you please tell me (on average/in general) how long it would take a person my age (who isnt very flexible) to get to level 4 and 5 and how many hours a week i should practice? and any tips you have? please, mean comments dont help me. thanks! 😀

hope i helped!!
Answer by Ellie Lwell if you want to learn those moves faster you might want to join the y where it isnt as harsh as clubs but where i live we have a gymnastics team at a high school but isnt for high schoolers. they dont compete so maybe you could check out high schools near you. the coaches though are like high schoolers for the gymnastics high school’s coach. i practice at the y 3 days a week for 3 hours in the summer and 3 days a week for 2 and a 1/2 hours during competing season. i am in level 7 but the kids in level 4 when you learn back handsprings are like 8 but there are some that are like 15. if you can do some stuff like a cartwheels you might be able to start in level 3 but otherwise you should take lessons. my suggestion is going to wherever you want to go and ask like the coaches or something what level you should be in or classes.Answer by T e $ s a
Well it sounds like you only want to learn stuff on floor. So just take a tumbling class, there are no levels and competitions involved. Most girls that do it are just there to improve their tumbling for gymnastics or cheerleaders, but some do it just for fun too. (:Answer by Casey
I started gymnastics when I was eleven, I was terrible at first, I couldn’t even do a cartwheel or a handstand. However, I practiced at my house all the time and in two years I can do flips and handsprings. I was level four and now am level five training level six. I would suggest practicing one to two hours a week at the gym and one to two hours at your house. To learn a round off try doing side handstands and then put one or two squishy pillows down at your house and push off those because they will give you spring. Same for front handsprings, stack one or two squishy pillows up and put your hands on the squishy pillows to spring off. You might want to put cushioning on the floor too because you probably will land on your butt a lot when you first try. Good luck!
