Joe S: What guitar would you suggest that is good and a decent price?
I’ve been playing about a year, and I’m thinking about getting a new guitar. So is there any kind of guitar that is good and is not too expensive?

I am a great fan of Takamine guitars I own a classical and an acoustic/electric — and love both. I have also owned Ovations which are a tad pricier and you have to really like the Ovation style neck which tends to be narrow with a narrow fingerboard.
I am exactly like u.. ive been playing guitar for about a year.. I would say im seriously recommending that u get the guitar im getting.. I heard really good reviews about it.. Its called: “Epiphone Les Paul Special II” its the best guitar of its price and the colors are really nice:

Answer by JohanLI´ve played quite a few guitars over the years and can not with my hand on my heart recomend you neither a budget gibson=epiphone nor even less a squire.
I´d recommend going down to you local music store and trying out any of the lower end (not the lowest though, if you can avoid it) Ibanez or even better Yamaha guitars. Especially Yamaha appears to have pretty decent quality instruments even at their lower price points a decent Ibanez will cost a bit more.
If you have a bit more money, skip the Squire and get a made in mexico fender, thats a good guitar at a decent price if you get it set up right.
But again, you cant really go wrong with Yamaha….

Electric or acoustic? What’s your price range? My idea of not too expensive might not be the same as yours.Answer by joseldev
That is not an easy question to answer since what is “good” to you may be “poor” or “not too good” to someone else.
You did not mention what type of guitar you are thinking fo buying – acoustic (nylon strings or steel strings) or electric?
One criteria that you may use is what a music guitar teacher- lecturer said to a group of guitar students:
1-Your first criteria should be SOUND – Always go for sound over “looks”. How does it sound to YOU?
2-How does it FEEL when you are holding the instrument. Can you feel confortable with the “action”?
3-Try more than one instrument in the same price range of your budget. Two guitars with the same price tag may be feel and sound different.
4-Once you found the instrument that pleases YOU don’t waste any more time looking further.
A more expensive model will not make you a better player than you are at the moment.
5- Do favor solid-top guitars over “laminated” top guitars. The extra cost will be worth it in the production of sound, The longer you play it, the better it gets.
You should be able to get a reasonable good
sounding guitar with a solid-top beginning with a price tag of $ 200. and up.
Be aware that most guitars with prices under $ 800
are “factory-made” and most likely made
in one of the Asian/Far East countries.
Many different labels come out of the same factory.
Remember Go For Sound over looks.
Good Luck and Enjoy your guitar.
Answer by jojox11x11x11It depends. Electric or acoustic? Price range?
I would recommend Epiphone guitars. they are made by gibson, which is a really good company. if you want one that looks like a gibson, get this one , like what someone said.
here is a full list of epiphone guitars https://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone,Guitar.gc?o=1
if you want a gibson, which cost fairly a lot, really good quality and is really popular, this is the cheapest gibson guitar , around 400 dollars.https://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibson-Melody-Maker-Electric-Guitar-104226501-i1172576.gc . but if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, i suggest to stick with those epiphone guitars because they are like gibson (made by gibson) and is very quiality at a cheap price. hope this helpsAnswer by TG
I am using an Ibanez RG350EX right now
its a nice guitar for only 400 bucks
it has 24 frets (GREAT FOR METAL)
the EDGE III Tremolo system (some of them crap out eventually, i switched mine for a tune-o-matic bridge)
and has two humbucker pickups (one in the bridge, one in the neck) and a single coil in the center (i swapped out the Bridge for an EMG85, Neck for an EMG81, and i took out a single coil from the bridge of my Strat, and replaced the one on the strat with a humbucker, fat strat’s for the win)
its all good stock equipment, i just perfected it
buy it, and build on it later
another good choice is the Dean ZX, the First Act Lola or Delia, or some of the 3-500 epiphones
