: What is the best guitar book to learn scales, modes and arpeggios?
Not just a book with a bunch of shapes but a book that also teaches fundamentals and theory of the shapes. In other words a book to somewhat learn how to master the guitar.

Ask at a music store; they should be able to tell you. One that has the fundamentals and theory in it would be as good as another.
Hello there,
You might try some of the lessons at Wholenote.com. They have some good theory lessons discussing modes and scales.
On that first page of a lesson, there are links to some other lessons.
In the way of books, I suggest Patterns Scales & Modes For Jazz Guitar by Arnie Berle.

Answer by Danica NelsonIf you want to learn how to play the guitar there is no other program on the internet that will even come close to Jamorama! The cost of this program is way more worthwhile than spending $ 20 – $ 30 for a half hour guitar lesson every week. All in all, a great package for anyone wanting to pick up the guitar and impress their friends.
There is a FREE 6-DAY COURSE too. Check it out.
