1. describe the figure that is formed when rectangle ABCD is rotated about the y axis.
2. What is its volume in terms of pi?
3. What is its lateral area in terms of pi?
please help i have no clue how to do this…. the picture is what is confusing me….

1. When you rotate a square/rectangle around the y axis in that position, it will form a cylinder =)
2. Use the formula A = pir^2h. This would be pi * 16 * % or 80 pi cubic units.
3. Use the formula 2pir^2 + pi*d*h.
This comes out as 32 pi plus 40 pi = 70 pi square units.
