Yeah: “Found New Hardware” window?
I recently re-installed my printer and the accompanying software onto my desktop PC, and it installed fine (well I assume it did, because I am able to print). But even though its working now, a window keeps popping up on my screen; it says:
“Found New Hardware Wizard
Cannot install this hardware…click finish to close the wizard”.
But when I click “Finish”, try to X out, or even “end task” in Windows Task Manager, the same window keeps coming back! Even when I restart my computer, it’s there!
I know this may seem silly to some people, but I’d really appreciate any help on getting rid of it. Thanks!
p.s. helpful, nice comments only please 🙂

Printer installs commonly give people problems because the routine is usually different than most other hardware installations.
With most hardware, the New Hardware Found wizard will work fine. However, it usually fouls up printer installs if you try to install your printer that way.
So start over. Go to Start > Printers and Faxes and delete your printer from the PC.
Disconnect your printer’s USB cable (I assume it is USB) and turn it off.
Reboot your PC and using the driver install CD that came with the printer, install the drivers.
At some point in the installation of the software, you will be prompted to ‘turn on your printer and connect it to your PC’. Commonly, when you do this, you find the New Hardware Found wizard inititates.
You should Cancel the New Hardware Found wizard.
Then the printer installation will continue to completion and function appropriately.
Hopefully, the problem will be solved.
