Does it look bad to have a fastfood business listed on your resume?

MysticalMinds: Does it look bad to have a fastfood business listed on your resume?
I have worked over 16 years in retail management type of work, but nearly a year ago my position was eliminated and I have been off and on employed but out of desperation I have started applying at fast food businesses (even though none of them are actually hiring in my town). My fear is after reading a newspaper article about how picky businesses are being, does it look worse to have a year period of no work or have a fast food, burger flipper, listed.

Employers know how bad the economy is. Everyone can respect someone who works for a living, even if it means having to do menial work.

I think they would respect you since it shows that you have no shame and do what it takes, than to be a bum. I would put it! You have perserverence on your side, as well as pity/compassion/admiration from the interviewers. I admire reading what you wrote and probably made my day.
