William B: Do real estate “home stagers” ever park luxury cars in the driveway to make homes look more desirable?
I’m wondering if home staging professionals ever seek to park flashy, expensive cars in the driveways of high-end homes in order to make the properties look even more upscale and desirable to potential buyers. Is this ever done? If so, how do they procure the vehicles to park there? From dealers? Car companies?

No they do not nor is there a need. High end homes the buyer either can afford it or not.
If you park a too high end vehicle compared to the home, it will make the home look kind of shoddy. Also, it sends the message *You must be able to afford this car to afford this home.* and that is generally not a message you want to send if the buyer doesn’t believe in spending a lot on cars.
I know many people who live in 4 million $ homes they can easily afford, spend over $ 100,000 a year on private schools, but drive $ 30,000 cars, like a Ford Escape or Prius. You also don’t want to park the wrong type of car, high-end homes often mean families, which means “sensible” cars, even if expensive brands. Even in the upscale neighborhood I live in, expensive cars are considered rather gauche now, out of touch. (Although in some areas of the country, that probably isn’t true, tacky is in, but not in LA where I live.) Remember, you want the potential buyer to see themselves in the home, which is why staging is quite generic, and a car can blow that if they drive something much different.

When you are selling a house that is over 10 million dollars usually it is marketed in a very special way , open house by invitation only , champagne brunch showings etc. very exclusively now when you look at areas where there are a lot of houses that used to demand a price of say 1 to 3 million dollars and now there is a glut of houses that people are really upside down in with their mortgage loans.
when they bought their house it was valued at 3 million and now the agent is saying that the best offer they could possibly get for the house is 1 million 7 hundred thousand . the owner is way upside down in that house so sure staging a house like that is going to produce a lot of challenges. Now understand staging is not something where random people just walk in and have unlimited access to a million dollar property there is usually a time frame for staging on certain days and during certain times and then you begin to differentiate between showings by appointment only and your typical placement staging that stays until the house is under contract and sold. Some properties remember are sold with all the furnishings included in the purchase price of the house because you are dealing with owners that have many houses throughout the world. So now the answer to your question would be yes they do and it depends on the staging company whether they use their contacts at a car dealer or a limousine company or they do multiple advertising of companies that are in the area. This is big or it used to be a thing in Miami where they had the exotic cars that belonged to one of their contacts cruise their property showing during the peak hours of the event remember to stage a house is an event and it is a temporary presentation to give the buyer an idea as to how the house can be seen in certain ways. It is make believe and it is not what you might do to the house it is only to give you input.Answer by glenn
I have been in real estate for 32 years. Staging is thought to help the home show better- not to pull attention away from the house. A car of any kind parked in front of a house blocks part of the view and does not help sell the house.Answer by kemperk
they borrow friend’s cars or rent them.
