Kim: Do I need to be really good with maths to be a professional programmer?
I’m 15 and am about to begin my VCE studies (for non-Australians VCE is the year 11 and 12 courses a.k.a the ones that actually count for something) and I want to make an informed decision in what I want to study. What kind of maths is involved in programming?

It’s not so much math that’s necessary for programing as it is the ability to understand procedures and logic. I mainly do PHP scripting and I seldomly need any math beyond normal addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
However, if yo plan to get into assembly level programming or machine language, you’ll need to know binary and more advanced math.
Answer by chuckles951You need to get good at least with basic calculus. Not because you need it but because requiring it keeps out those who have not learned algebra properly. And Algebra is important.Answer by asteve7181
you need conceptual thinking that is associated with calculus and math. But math is only needed for counting the moneys.
