Aszu: What is the difference between sex trafficking and prostitution?
I am writing a research paper on sex trafficking and I am having some trouble understanding the exact definition. How does sex trafficking relate to prostitution? I understand that they both involve selling or trading sex for money, but is sex trafficking always non consensual? I just need some clarification. Also, can anyone direct me to some research papers and other references where I can gather information on this topic? Thanks a lot!

Prostitution is done willingly.
In trafficking, individuals kidnap women to sell into sex slavery against their will.
Answer by AliceSex trafficking is usually non consensual. For example, a woman from another country might be told she’s coming to the UK or USA or wherever the trafficking is for work, but really she’s not. Prostitution is usually by choice.Answer by Izzy

In sex trafficking people buy and sell sex slaves, or if a girl wants out of a county a man will pay to bring her to his county. Then the girl owes him a debt. She must sell her body for the man until her debt is paid off. Or if the girl was bought, she will be forced into the sex trade by her owner.
Prostitutes are just whores that don’t have enough of a freaking backbone to get a real job.
Answer by prabhrajhey, i hope this helps. sex trafficking is basically the trade of people for sexual exploitation. this does not involve the consent of the person being traffic-ed. this is illegal in any part of the world. whereas prostitution basically means providing sexual favors to someone for exchange of money or favors. prostitution varies from non-forgivable crime to a noted profession in different parts of the world. in prostitution the consent of the person providing sexual favors is important.
and yes, sex trafficking is non-consensual.
