Dating should be done only to determine if it is a person you will marry or not.

It does not have to lead to marriage.
Answer by Rebecca FI beleive that it is an important rite of passage to become associated with the modern world.
If we hold to practices of locking ourselves up until we are ready for eternal commitment, well… we’ll all end up divorced.
We need to be open to relationships at normal ages (as everyone in our country is doing.) If we limit ourselves, as mormons & assorted other religions do, we ruin social connections & we ruin the open-mindedness which god has blessed us with.
Dating is an important part of growing up, while it should be relatively controlled, it is essential.
and not neccessarily only for the “ready to be wed” aged people.
I think as soon as a girl or boy is a teen they should start dating…and by teen I mean 14-15.
If their parents are responsible they will explain things like sex, STD’s and such to their kids to prepare them for the future.
I didn’t have responsible parents so I found out by myself using the internet and reading books on the subject.
Answer by ScottDating is fine… I mean, even from a non-religious point of view, you should be dating someone you are trying to see if you would end up with or not, but you need to try it out before you finally get it right.Answer by Blkah
I think if you are serious and really like the person im for itAnswer by Bougainvillea Beauty.
I think group gating around 16 is fine. Dating is “spouse hunting.” I would wait for one on one dating until you are looking for your spouse.Answer by CrustyCurmudgeon
I really abhor the idea that every decision in my life is a religious or political statement, a taking of sides.
Dating is a pleasant pastime with someone you like. In my time I have dated a number of people to whom I was intellectually attracted, but with no plan of future life together or of physical intimacy. Among these were a former Religious who was bright, very intellectual and a great commentator on life, and a next-door-neighbor who was good company and someone who knew how to celebrate good happenings.
Why can’t you let it go and say that dating is about dating?

i feel it is very important to make sure you are going to be happy with a person before you have any thought of marriage.
I feel so sorry for all these women who were told that they must stay virgins till they were married! that is why there are so many people on drugs for depression and anxiety because these poor women and men are stuck in insatiable marriages because of their religion.
I am a Christian and Jesus has been in my heart since i was a 10 year old girl but i feel that it is much more forgiveable to shop around and make sure you and your partner are going to be compatible in every way, including sexually*… especially sexually…because neither of you want to be married, unsatisfied, and wind up divorced or commiting adultery ! You want to be sure the chemistry is just right to lessen your chances of future unhappiness.
Answer by Theater GalI think its dumb. Im going to say this, in this way. In grade school, I went to a christian school. 3rd grade all my girl friends were dating all my guy friends. They broke up 6 days after. No marriage, but alot of Hersheys Bars that got snuck outta the teachers desk.
Me? I date. Ready for marriage? No. Not even close, but thats ok, because thats normal. Besides whos gonna marry at the age of 16? ITS ILLEGAL
Now, I am not religious, but I still believe In God, and I want to add, (this is my oppinion) that the whole marriage thing, is that even an option now? Now thats a question I want to know. So many people marry and stay virgin until after marriage. Sex is a major factor in a relationship too, ya know. How you gonna know if that persons the right one?
Answer by Dimitri VolpeI think young people have a lot of theoretical ideas about the right and wrong way to date ; when the tires hit the road however, it comes down to one simple sobering fact: The girl will suffer loss. Dating is like play marriage and marriage is like pregnancy ; it should not be played with ; either you do or you don’t ; if things were more black and white about it, people would be less inclined to seek unrealistic romantic perfection and in this realistic light, they would be less likely to entertain the idea of divorce… For me, marriage is about bringing up children into Christian Faith not about romantic fairy tales. Traditional courtship in view of marriage is good but who could conceive of it anymore ?…Answer by i h
Dating does prepare you for relationships and marriage. It’s the free trial before the purchase.
