It can be anything form a certificate to a PHD. The pay ranges accordingly. The best thing you can do is go to your local pd website and look up the benefits page, they will have listed the pay scale.

Pay sucks for corrections but the job security cant be beat. Law enforcement do better with more chances for advancement. It is not a job you get into for the money.
