SpitFire91: What criminal-justice related job can I work for while in college?
I am a junior in college and a criminal justice major. Are there any jobs I can get at this point to better prepare me for a career in criminal justice? I’m mostly interested in juvenile probation, if it makes a difference…

You can be a corrections officer
You can volunteer at a local womens shelter
You can work for an alcohol abuse program
You can volunteer at your local police department.
A good thing to do is get an internship in the area you are interested in. Ask your advisor or the chair of your department about how to get an internship.
Answer by tangledupinuI graduated with a bachelor’s in Criminal Justice – we were required to complete an internship to graduate from the program – I’m assuming your college does not do this? It would be in your best interest to speak with your advisor and contact the county’s juvenile probation department to inquire about doing an internship.
My classes educated me about the CJ system, but I didn’t know anything until I did my internship – that is where you really learn the skills needed. I graduated 3 years ago and landed a job right away. I honestly believe if it weren’t for my internship and everything I learned during it, I would not have been offered my job.
