Dave: Credit Score Negative on my report?
I saw this on my negative part on my credit score.
“Your report does not show any open, currently active major credit card accounts, such as Discover, American Express, VISA, or MasterCard.”
I already have 2 visa’s with capital one and 1 discover card and a Best buy card. What gives?
Dave
I take it back

You have at least 2 or more open major credit cards, such as Discover, American Express, VISA, or MasterCard, on your credit report. This often tells lenders that you are a responsible borrower and they may be more likely to see you as a good credit risk and extend you credit.

The magic word is “active”. Are you charging on these cards or are they just sitting with 0 balances? Actually they are not really a negative but they are not doing anything to improve your credit if you do not use them.
You probably got this advice from some credit monitoring service credit report. Don’t put too much stock in those little bits of advice. They are very generic and usually are about things that would make very little difference in your score.

Have you pulled your reports and scores from www.annualcreditreport.com? This will give you a clearer picture of where you stand. The fact that you have had the two Visa’s for some time is a benefit but you need to use them regularly and pay promptly or payoff the balance every month for them to have a positive effect on your scores.
