Chris2: Cooking hotdogs in a crockpot?
We’re having a party and I’m planning on cooking the hotdogs in the crockpot so they can always be warm for whenever someone wants to eat (there’s other food of course, but thought the kids would appreciate this the most). I would assume I should put water in to cook them just as I would on the stove. Anyone have a suggestion of how long the hotdogs should be “stewing” in the crockpot to make sure they’re warmed all the way through?

I have never done it this way before but it sounds like a good idea. Maybe you should put the water in the pot first and let it heat up. Then heat your dogs in the microwave before putting them in the crock pot. I like this idea. they should stay warm for the whole party. Set it on low or for the longest time you can.
turn it on high – let it come to a boil- pop in the dogs and turn it back to low after it comes to a boil again and put the lid on. if they are frozen 15 minutes- refrigerated- 5 minutes. Just keep adding hot water as the water evaporates.Answer by gidget
i would set them up at least an hour before serving put on low are you going to put any sauerkraut in with them?Answer by david o
It’s practically impossible to overcook hot dogs in a crock pot.Put them on low two hours before serving begins and they should be ready and good to go.I also like to do mine in sour kraut or add a can of beer for flavor.Don’t worry about the alcohol,it will dissipate during cooking. As for another answerer suggesting to bring them to a boil first,if your crock pot does this, get rid of it,it should not get that hot.The whole idea of a crock pot is slow and low!
