: How to convince my mom to let me get a turtle for my birthday?
My mom says”I am not having another pet in this house, to much responsibility.” But I said I would taKe care of it, I would be responsible. And Please don’t say that I need to be more responsible I am REALLY responsible for an 11 year old. I want a turtle so bad. So how do I convince her to let me get a turtle for my birthday?

Get a tortoise, it’s cheaper.
Tell them it won’t smell, since it’s a tortoise there’s not a huge chance of it getting Salmonella, they’re quiet and friendly. They’re awesome to watch grow, they won’t have to clean up poo from the backyard like you would if you wanted a dog. You’ll keep it in your room, you’ll buy all it’s food and bedding, the water bowl and all of that. It’ll teach you responsibility and how to care for something.
Tell them all the pros and cons about having a Turtle! (make sure u say more pros then cons, and for cons say a back up why its not even that bad!)
Pros: Pros means that what is good about getting a Turtle.
Cons: means the bad things about getting a Turtle.
Good luck, hope u get one!!
You don’t. Children just can’t be trusted to do absolutely everything for a pet for its whole life, especially things like buying food and especially going to the vet, and that’s why the parents have to want it. And you’re only 11; you have years ahead of you of going out and having lots of sleepovers with friends, and when kids with pets are doing that, who do you think is taking care of the pets? That’s right, the parents.Answer by gimmenamenow
Explain how it will only cost $ 100 to $ 200 to set it up properly, and it will only need 120 gallons of water when it’s full grown, and the UV-B lights that it needs only need to be replaced every 5 to 6 months, and it just needs a heavy duty filter rated for at least twice the water volume it will be filtering, and if you take care of it correctly, it will only live to be 30 years old or more.
You’ve got plenty of time to research everything you’ll need for a turtle and save up all the money you’ll need for it… wait till you can prove the responsibility you’ll need to take care of it by moving out and getting your own place so you can keep whatever kind of pet you want.
