Lioness: How much clothing and how many possessions would a noble in the Renaissance have had?
I’m writing a fantasy novel with one country’s cultural roots based loosely in early Renaissance-period England. I’ve done months and months of research, but one thing I’ve not been able to find is any kind of estimate on how many possessions – particularly clothing – a noble would have.
The one I’m working on in particular at the moment is the young daughter of a high-ranking and very wealthy noble family. They are not, however, royalty. That said, -any- info would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!

more than the ppor the poor had like 2 dresses but middle class were merchants and such so like a few shirts pants and a pair of shoes!
Nobility was a status of social rank- not a measure of wealth
So in effeect you could have poor people who held high titles (this is especially true for Europe- in England being a nobleman always involved ownership of some land)
Your rich girl might have anything she wanted- including being a “colonel” of a military unit (raised with private money, then “offered” for service to the King). Dresses by the hundred, and a private tailor to make new ones
She might also meet a Prince- who owns only the sword he carries… (since a free man must be armed)
Answer by Puckloads they would have servants servants wouldn’t have many clothes the rich noble wouldhave loads of cltohes the poor noble woman would have less clothes – more than the servants
