joshua m: Chef’s: why do these 2 ingredients compliment each other so well? Peanut butter + hot dog.?
My Grandpa introduced me to a family recipe that’s delicious. Hot dog on a bun with peanut butter over it and sometimes a splash of ketchup over the top. I’ve heard it all when I describe this recipe “oh, are you kidding, that sounds nasty,” “ewww!,” “you’re sick>” Yeah it may sound like a nasty combo, moreover, for those who have tried it “Awesome!” I would like an experienced cooks perspective on why these ingredients work together so well. Thank you.

iknowwhatimtalkinabout you mention you are English therefore you should be able to read the comment above and notice the word MOST. If your not sure what it means check a dictionary.
Answer by morningstar9292I too have heard they are great. There was a hot dog truck in my town when I was a teen called cousin bens. He had every kind of hot dog topping / combo and had names for each one. I had many friends that had the one with peanut butter and banana on it..I never tried it but boy they looked like they were in heaven while eating these things. One day I will have to try it.Answer by iknowwhatimtalkinabout
I think it sounds yummy!
People have been putting pork and peanut together for decades (SATAY).
There is no reason why this cannot be just as good :0)
Wallace ..I’m english and am very open to foods other than beef and yorkshire pudding thank you 🙂
Answer by AdrienneFirst of all, that isn’t a “recipe.” Putting random, already-prepared foods together isn’t a recipe. It’s just eating things.
I’m not as troubled by the idea of the horrible, horrible, taste as I am by the idea of someone taking a white bun, loaded with sugars, putting a sodium and preservative ridden variety pork organ product on it, smearing it with several hundred calories of peanut butter, and squirting sugary ketchup on top.
If I were going to have something that unhealthy, with that many calories, that much sodium and fat, I’d want it to be a culinary masterpiece. Just me.
Answer by The Paladin/This question is proof that people, for the most part, are dumb.
I’m not talking about the person who originally asked the question.
I’m talking about the people who gave a qualified opinion in their response, without having qualifications to back it up.
First rule of answering a question?
READ THE F’ING QUESTION!!!!
The question asks about the combination of peanut butter and hot dogs, with two caveats. Let me restate part it for you here, so you don’t have to scroll up again and get lost on the way.
He states : “I would like an experienced cooks perspective on why these ingredients work together so well.” Not the best grammar, but if you can think your way out of a wet paper bag, you can understand what’s being asked.
1 – The assumption of the question is that the ingredients work well together. So you have to go off that. He did NOT say “Do you think these go together well?”
2 – He is asking for the response of an experienced cook. Are you an experienced cook? Did you list references of cooking experiences? Degrees in chemistry, botany, or culinary preparation? Have you spent a lot of time in the kitchen preparing meals people actually eat? (other than yourself)
3 – Ok, so maybe your IQ is less than the average uneducated mammal and you don’t know how to read, but saying things like “I just threw up in my mouth” does not qualify as an answer to the question.
You might want to actually TRY THE RECIPE first, before spewing thoughts that illiterate monkeys would consider at best “dim”.
Here is a re-statement of the question, in question format:
“If you are an experienced cook, can you tell me why peanut butter and hot dogs may be a good combination”.
I even said “may be” instead of “are” to give the experienced cooks the potential to be creative in their response.
Since the question is open for 3 days, I’d challenge people to take another stab at being a productive member of society, and give this question it’s just rewards.
