There are a lot of cheap motels along the beach in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. The city has tried to upscale the entire area but there are so many motels you can go down there and find a deal as long as it is not spring break or the real busy tourist season. Personally I would not go that route, I would stick with Motel 6 if you can get reservations. The only Motel 6 I can think of in Broward is on SR 84 in Fort Lauderdale and it is more expensive than the usual MOtel 6. They are usually 35 a night for one person and there are better rates for extended stay. Motel 6 also has the Studio 6 chain for extended stay with weekly rates but I do not think there are any in Broward. I know they have one in West Palm because I have stayed there. And there is a Motel Six in Lantana which is also Palm beach county north of Broward. Note: It has become increasingly harder to get a room at Motel 6 in South Florida because a lot of people who are displaced from their homes are staying in these low priced motels. So get reservations because Friday and Sat nights get booked, it did not used to be like that. If you decide you just want to do the cheapest possible place I would drive down to the beach in the area of A1A just south of Las Olas Blvd and drive up and down two blocks west of A1A from Las Olas to Sunrise there are probably a hundred cheap motels in that section but it used to be a bad element in there, not sure what it is like right now down there.
There’s a s…load of older Mom & Pop motels along US-1 from Hallandale north to the center of Ft. Ldle. Quality & prices vary widely. There are also the usual extended stay & all suites hotels throughout the county.Answer by Florida Girl
I would not want to stay at a cheap motel in Ft. Lauderdale. The chances of them being unsafe are an issue. The best thing to do is check online for extended stay motels closest to the area in which you will be working. This time of the year is considered ‘in season’ and no place will be cheap. You can also contact some real estate agents for short term condo rentals. Check www.Sunsentinal.com . That is the local paper. If you need to send a deposit be sure to pay by credit card so you have some protection against fraud. You may want to contact the company you will be working for and see if they have any recommendations. Good luck.
