firemage86404: Cannot Get Credit Report – Keep Getting Denied For Credit?
Hello. Recently I turned 18 (Within the last month) and I started to apply for credit cards to build my credit. For some reason, I kept getting denied due to “Insufficient credit history”. I decided to check my credit with annual credit report and they won’t let me view my credit report because of Fraud alert, identity freeze or information is incorrect…
I recently moved out of the house (last year) and I am at a new base (I am air force). For some reason, I cannot get any loans, any credit cards or even view my credit history now! Is there somebody I can contact to get this straightened out? I even applied for beginners credit cards with CapitalOne and got denied.
Is there somebody or something that can help me figure out why I am unable to access my credit scores or get any sort of loans?
Thanks,

The online instant credit services require you to match information. For some reason my TransUnion info didn’t match my real info so I had the same problem. When I asked for a free credit report in writing it was not an issue.
Go to TransUnion and Equifax. Look around the web site. They want you to buy the online version so you have to look carefully for the free version.
Print out the forms. Photocopy your ID. Send it all in and wait 6-8 weeks.

If you have been denied recently it tells you in the letter you are entitled to a free report, and they will explain why you were denied. It is always best to not go online for credit reports. The will contact you and ask you for any additional information if need be,like drivers license, home bill, ss#, etc., at this time they will let you know what’s going on. Until you straigten this out, I would just lay low, and not apply for more credit cards. You may want to also look into getting a secured card do build credit since you don’t have credit.Answer by lisa w
Since you are in the airforce it should not be a problem for you to get someone to cosign for you. If this is not an option apply for credit with the credit union where you bank or apply for a card with affees and they should give you one with no problem. Also car dealers are very liberal with credit to active duty since they know that they are guarrunteed (sp) to get the money due them.Answer by stan c
If the account is in fraud alert and identity freeze, you have to have them removed first. Just call Trans Union Fruad Dept toll free @ 1-800-680-7289 and just tell them to remove it. After you review the reports and want the afraud alert put back on, just call and they will be put back on
