x hour after 9:25PM
40x = 48(x – 0.5)—->x = 3 or at 0:25 AM
Answer by Independent_guy12:25am.
explanation: in 30 minutes train is 20 miles ahead. to catch the train the train needs to travel 20 miles at a relative pace of 8 miles per hour. takes 2.5 hours!Answer by jit
9:55 + (40*0.5)/(48-40)
= 9:55+2:30
= 12:25 i.e. 0:25AM next dayAnswer by bskelkar
I have not used miles in ages. But I shall try.
B is 30 min behind A is very clear and 8mph faster.
and A is 20 miles ahead of B.
So it will pass train A in 20/8 hours or 2 hours and 30 minutes.
BTW in which part of the world do you use mile even in these days. It was discarded in around 1965Answer by Pelican
Tell your math teacher “Trains are never on time. “Answer by Oceanside
difference between the time they pass the station is 30 mins, which is 1/2 hour or 0.5 hrs
let x be the time it takes train A to meet train B
40 x = 48( x ) – 0.5
0.5 = 48 x – 40 x
8 x = 0.5
x = 1 / 16
1 / 16 * 60mins = 3.75 mins
9.55pm —3.75mins–>9.58pm
I’m not very sure if it’s right..I haven’t done this in a long time..hope it was of some help though..
