Katie: Can I start an LGBT safe house for teens without getting in trouble with the Oklahoma runaway laws?
My dream is to start a safe house for LGBT teens but I’ve heard that runaway laws would get in the way of that. Is there a way to set up a safe house without that happening?

I don’t see why it would be a problem. They have safe houses for homeless teens as well, so I don’t see where the difference would be. If you’re a runaway, you are basically homeless. Although, I’m sure the laws are different state to state.
well, let’s hope not.Answer by Alvaro G
get some lawyers involved.
there should be a number of gay attorneys in Oklahoma, who would be more than willing to provide help in setting up the appropriate legal foundation for such an effort.
Also, the funding for this type of project is a major consideration.
Deciding what services that you will be providing and under what curcumstances are major concerns.

Good for you! But i can see how they would be aganest it tho.
A safe house would take anyone no matter what. Why would it matter what their sexual prefs were? Pll may argue that its some sort of sexual thing. Get the lawers on to it, But surly all teens need a lil help some time.Answer by Clint
I admire your dream, but a question like this should be fielded by a lawyer because of the technical nature of it.
I hope it works out for you – there are lots of gay kids out there who need more people like you in their lives! 🙂
