cichlids cannot live with any other fish other then cichlids they are very agressive and will attack your other fish
you could put some gouramis in your tank or bala sharks you can also put in some mollies if your barbs dont seem to be going after the platties
Bad combination. Tetra’s make a really good community fish, you may want to try the neon ones. Do not add more than 2 at a time though.Answer by Dan V
Blood Parrots cannot live in a 10g tank, with or without Tiger Barbs.
Tiger Barbs should be kept in groups of 6 or more – 20 gallons for just them alone. And “alone” is how they should really be kept. They are not good tank mates for much of anything.
You really don’t have room in your tank for anything.
Answer by smartgirlYou do not say exactly how many tiger barbs and platies you have but if “few” means 3-4 of each, then your 10 gallon tank is already fully stocked. It is actually overstocked somewhat. It would not work well to add any other fish of any size.
Someday, if you decide you still want a blood parrot cichlid, realize that they grow large and can be rather ungainly swimmers. Tiger barbs are rowdy and known to pick on slower fish and fish with flowing fins/tails. The treatment they dish out to these other fish is not just annoying, it can be life-threatening as the tiger barbs pick at the victim fishes’ fins until there is only a stump left. Infection can easily set in and kill the victim.
Tiger barbs are cute and lively but they really need to have only their own kind as tankmates.
