Nettie: Buying first credit card…Need help!?
I’m trying to apply for a credit card. I’m going to be traveling in about 3 months. I have 95% of the amount of the plane ticket, but I need to buy it in the next couple of weeks to get the cheaper price. I just started my credit history a year ago and have not missed any payments (it was a car loan). I’m trying to do as little applications as I can, I made the mistake of applying to a lot of credit cards last year because I was trying to build my credit and got rejected for “lack of credit history”. Which card would be best for me or which card will I have the greatest chance of getting with no annual fee? The APR doesn’t bother me because like I said, it will be paid off in less than 2 months. And please no responses of “don’t get one at all”, I realize what kind of debt it can get someone into and I will only be using it once a year for a plane ticket and it will be paid off in the next 2 months. THANKS!

Very few cards have annual fees anymore. Just look around for the card with the lowest interest rate.
I just helped my niece yesterday apply for her first card. She has a car for two years with a perfect payment record and the only card that she was eligible for was a card from HSBC and it has a 79.00 annual fee.
The best cards to apply for that are known for helping build credit are Capital One, HSBC and First Premier.
Capital One’s website has a section to complete to see if you are pre-approved for any card before you actually apply, it is a good idea to do this, it will save you an inquiry on your credit report.
Answer by The Truth PrevailsYou can get a credit card from one of the airlines…maybe even the one you are getting the ticket on…it will come back to pay dividends in the future…
