Dude, chill out, its my PEEENI!: If now a bunch of teenagers start an Alternative rock band, will they have success?
I am wondering, if now bunch of teenagers wrote their own music by using their old fenders and recorded it on cheap microphones, will they succeed?

Depends on if they wear clothes or not.Answer by ainslie
Like the first answer said Talent is key – but i think you must do something completely different in your music to break away and stand a better chance to get noticed.. Also research (google) Home recording.pdf – and search on HOWTO.com “how to record my band”Answer by Tiny Spirit in a K-hole
it depends, which producers and music executives put the band together? what look did they decide on for you? and were they able to find some talented studio musicians and freelance lyricists to write your songs?Answer by Fo$hizzle
A band or an artist’s success is mainly because they are highly controversial and shock everyone, or their songs are simply really good. To have success, I suggest you upload some of your music to YouTube or social networking sites and other online services to receive feedback. If feedback is positive, continue. If not, consider the feedback and work on your music so that it instead receives a good following.Answer by Jack
All crap answers.
Do you have a passion? Do you want to do it? Do you have songs?
You can succeed anytime if you are good enough.
Refer to bands such as Sonic Youth, The Pixies, The Velvet Underground, Galaxie 500, Guided By Voices..
Anyway, define alternative…
If you anything decent you’ll make it.
Answer by EmiProbably or most likely not. The music industry is a closed door industry and you A) Need to know the right people. B) Be able to fund yourself C) have SOME degree of talent or at least know what you’re doing
There are LOADS and I really do mean LOADS of great bands that haven’t made it big or been hugely successful for one reason or another and a big factor is the fan base. Labels take notice of bands/artists that have a big fan base. But it’s mainly who you know that counts in this industryAnswer by Samantha
Sadly enough I have to disagree with most others on this. Talent isn’t really key, and neither is originality if your looking to get picked up by a label. But just have fun and show your stuff to friends. That to me is success in itself.Answer by The Who’s Jim Morrison
So people get noticed, become successful and live rich in big mansions, some bands have to quit because they can’t pay the bills, and some bands are great, but never, ever manage to make it to the point of fame.
But, you’ll never know until you try, I know it’s cheesy, but it’s so true. I say you go for it, if you don’t become successful, you’ll have a damn good time trying, most likely.
Alternative isn’t as easy to become famous in… like little pop singers will make it on to Ellen thanks to their youtube count, but still I hope you do find success in life, and I do suggest making a youtube account, it can really help these days, but the first thing you want to do is “find your sound”, and practice, and practice, which isn’t too bad, than make that youtube, and give it your all.
But, yeah, don’t forget about your studies. 😉
