Lizzie C: Buffy the vampire slayer episodes?
Hi!
I have a friend that started watching Buffy for me. She’s still in season 2, in the episode Innocence. But, she says she finds the episodes boring (I know, she’s crazy…). So I’m planning on having a Buffy marathon with her to prove her otherwise. I promised her the best episodes. Funny ones, and if she likes them, she’ll keep on watching Buffy and Angel. This are my favorites:
Once More With Feeling (of curse)
Hush
Tabula Rasa
Pangs
Something Blue
The wish
Who Are You a
and Lover’s Walk.
I still have time to watch some other episodes with her, so I wanted some suggestions on other funny episodes so that I can complete the package. Tell me your favorite episodes based on how funny you find them (please, don’t include the ones I listed above, cause that won’t help me)
Thanks.

Never thought of it as a funny show…more of a drama (and the most well-written show ever, IMO)
but as far as funny episodes…these would be my top 3
Dracula Season 5
Superstar Season 6

Most every episode of Buffy has hilarious scenes.
Answer by Lolly: Grr Arrgh!I watched ‘Him’ last night and I’ve got to say it’s got to be one of the funniest BtVS episodes. The scene with Spike chasing down Buffy outside the Principles window makes me lmao! Then Willows insistance that she can look past RJ’s gender combined with the stupid music that plays when the spell takes hold makes for a brilliant episode.
That also reminds me of ‘Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered’. Another love spell episode. The extreme-ness of the fawning Girls even including Jenny is quite laughable.
‘Something Blue’ in S4 is effing hilarious. Giles has some cracking lines and the exchange between Buffy and Spike pre and post spell is classic BtVS humour.
‘Band Candy’ and ‘Homecoming’ in S3 are both quite funny especially Band Candy when the adults start behaving like teens. It’s not necessarily a fantastic episode but if you’re looking for giggles it’s got it. ‘Beer Bad’ with cave Buffy is brilliant.
‘Superstar’ when the world is Johnathon obsessed is funny but may only be so to someone who understands his back story.
I think you need to tell your friend to finish at least season 2. Did you gage her reaction on what happened in Surprise/Innocence? in my opinion season 2 get WAYYYYYY more exciting from there on to the season finale. then ask her what she thinks. also ask if she cried at the end… if she didnt care then you MIGHT want to let it go. even if you get her to watch it shes never going to enjoy it as much as you and it wont be as fun to talk about it with her than with someone who LOVES buffy. I think your friend will be more likely to enjoy the show if she understands the relationships and can follow the story rather than if you just throw out random “funny ones.” this is just my opinion so you can totally ignore me if you want
I dont find that buffy episodes can be labeled as funny very often, with a few exceptions, usually they are really “deep” and meaningful to the characters which is why i enjoy them. even the tragically sad ones like becoming part 2 when buffy has to kill angel. even though its heart breaking the actors are amazing and play it so well that it is pretty much my fav episode.
I would not go with the “famous” episodes that are known for their acclaim. I def would NOT do Once More With Feeling… only because it covers a lot of important stuff. I dont know if your friend will think its funny, because she might be confused and weirded out. This also goes for Hush. While Hush is an infamous episode its not an episode i would show to someone that im trying to get hooked.
Here are my favorites:
***Angel
What’s My Line Part 1and 2
******Passion
******Becoming Part 1 and 2
*Lover’s Walk
Something Blue- funny
Crush
*Tabula Rasa- funny
——————–
Seeing Red —– ok these four as a group are really good
Villians
Two to Go
Grave
———————
Storyteller- funny
Lies My Parents Told Me
****Touched
* the more ******** the more i like it
I know you didnt want me to include the ones you had on your list already but its just to show you i agree with those ones. hope this helps.
Answer by enfranrDid you say she just watched Innocence and found it boring? Um, Innocence is one of the best episodes of the entire show.
I’ve always tried to get my friends to watch Buffy – but when they start at season 1, they always give up.. I hate telling new fans to watch the best episodes before seeing the entire thing, as it spoils so much.
Anyway, I’ve listed a few episodes below.
Fearless
Restless
Earshot
Gingerbread
Storyteller
Bewitches, Bothered and Bewildered
Homecoming
Doomed
A New Man
As for episodes which are not so funny, but are brilliant, then here are my favourite –
Passion
The Gift
The Wish
Graduation Day Part 2
In my opinion, as your friend has just watched Innocence – I’d tell her to continue with the rest of season 2… maybe skipping out Phases and Go Fish. I mean, season 2 is such an emotional, dramatic season – near the end, you’ve got episodes like Passion, IOHEFY and Becoming! If she doesn’t enjoy the rest of season 2, then she probably won’t enjoy the rest of Buffy.
