I want it all!: Ballet………………?
I have been a cheerleader for 5 years, I am level 5. I did dance when I was little but nothing I can remember. I really want to dance ballet. I plan on taking classes in the summer and spring.
What are some things I can to do prepare?
How long would it take to move to pointe?
Where can I get dance clothes/shoes?
Can I dance in college without being on the dance team in my school?
Dose pointe absolutely kill your feet?

dance is an absolutely fabulous idea!!! ballet is a great way to stay in shape and helps with balance, strength, and flexibility, all of which will help with cheer leadingg too!! as for preparation, maybe buy a book or too (or borrow from library) to learn a couple simple ballet terms so you won’t be confused your first few classes. for some of terms that sound confusing, just type them into the search bar on youtube, so you can watch someone doing them. As far as where to buy clothes/ shoes i would call the studio first and see if they have a dance store which they suggest (often the store gives deals to students of certain studios) you could also try discount dance.com they have all the big brands of dance wear for about 1/2 the price! befor you buy anything though, call the studio and find out about dress code. nothing is worse than walking in the first day and wearing something unallowed. i would also ask the studio owner if you could sit in a couple of the classes youll be taking so you can see how it is run, and meet some of your classmates. youll also get an idea of what is required of you. As for pointe, Id say it will be at least 2-3 years of intense ballet depending on if your feet/ ankles are strong and finished growing. it hurts at first, but as long as you dance on proper floors and in shoes that are properly fitted to your feet, it won’t “kill” them. good luck and remember to have fun with it!! most studios offer adult classes which you can take through college
