נα¢є ωαуℓαи∂: B&A: Is it wrong to have “fallen in love” with one of your characters?
I love to write about scenes including a certain character. Does this sound somewhat desperate?
BQ: What character in your story or in a book you have read do you absolutely adore?
Now that I think about it, I unintentionally am basing my character off of my male best friend (and I’m a girl O_o)

i dont want to answer this truthfully because honestly no girl characters had made the cut, just males, kind of weird if you think about it…..
not to say i’ve fallen in love with them, but there are some that if they ever die, or about to die, i stop reading and pretend they get out safely.
my own writing is different, i take what character i did like and there traits that made me like them so much and combine them into one and make one bad!!!ss creation of my own, of course this story will never see the light of day because well lets face it, a story gets annoying when the authors loves the character a bit to much.
i do make the perfect female character..
honestly i’ve never really read a book where the female character i wish was real. They all seemed to have a trait sooner or later that i found annoying
oh wait i lied just thought of one:)
Answer by Lynn BodoniIf you’re writing for your own pleasure, well, there’s no harm.
If you want to get the story published, though, it’s a very bad idea. You need to be ready to kill of ANY character, or put him/her through hell, if the story requires it. Otherwise, what you’ll have is an unsellable story.
Answer by ReadlikecrazyNo, is the character like you or based off of someone you know.

If you’ve written your characters well, you should have a connection with them…
Some of my characters I just love…I love writing about them, and it bothers me when I have to make things difficult for them…When I have to kill of one…wow, its hard
But that’s what I like about it…I can convey that emotion in my story…If you (as the writer) can’t connect with your characters, how can you expect the reader too…
Just don’t make it so you’re so biased towards that character you make everything perfect for them..Because that would be boring…
Answer by Gaara-obsessed and still crazy! No.
Me? I have two characters…but I think I’m more in love with their relationship and the stuff about them rather than them. Does that make sense? And the male half of the relationship…he’s half based off of this guy I know (and kinda like?) and half based off of what I want in a guy. So I think that adds to it.
BQ: In a book I’ve read….hmm. This is hard. I think Sirius Black from HP.
Answer by AnnieWell We do know that Stephanie Meyers wrote Edward Cullen because she fell in love with him in a dream. But we also know how bad that is because she was rather annoying with the over description of him. And maybe if she had a friendly thought of him instead of wanting him maybe the story would of gone better.
For me, I would say I have fallen in love with lots characters from other books for different reason. Cujo for instance I loved the dog and hated when he got bitten by that bat and became sick. With the Talisman I fell in love with a boy that turned into a wolf. That’s just two of Stephen King work. With Kelley Armstrong I fell in love with Elena Michael, Paige, Chloe and Jamie and these are all girls and I’m a girl and yeah it just weird but I love the way they are empowering.
Now for my characters that’s a lot. I do have love for the one that reflect a bit of me because she just strong and she was made during the period of my life that I was being bullied and of course through her, I decide to fight back. With other characters like Corbin from my books I love him but again as a friend. Because I love the way his background history is writing him is so much fun. But with most of my character it like we are sitting down in Starbucks and I am drinking one of my drinks while their drinking a whole different type of drink and we are just discussing their day or their history while I’m writing it down.
Answer by SazwonderzNo, it’s good to get a relationship with your characters.
Then again, if you really have ‘fallen in love’ with him, that may cloud your judgment, turning him into a Gary Stu.
Just be careful.
