Mrs. Kaulitz: Are there special schools that you go to if you want to be a tattoo artist/piercer?
If so, are there any in Michigan? And do you go there after some amount of time in a regular college? I guess what I’m asking is, what would be the process from high school graduation to becoming a pro tattooer/piercer?

Im not to sure about it when i got a industrial piercing done at a pro place a guy who was friends of the piercer asked do you need to go to collage to stab people with needles like that and he said no you just got to know how to do it and be certified in healt inspection
so my answer to this would be probably not but if you want to be a tattoo artist you might want to go to an art collage for a few years to improve your abilities before you think about puttinging them perminantly on peoples skins
The first thing you need is some real talent. If you don’t have the artistic ability to draw well on paper, you most likely will not do well as a tattoo artist. Sorry.
Next, you are going to want to work on sharpening your abilities to draw with a tattoo machine. Taking a few lessons and advice sessions from a seasoned tattoo artist can work very well. Whatever you do, you must practice seriously for a long time.
Once you have started to become a capable artist you will need to a portfolio. A portfolio needs to show your strengths and skill levels to represent you as an artist.
The next thing that you will need is a tattoo artist or shop to give you a shot at working under them or for them. An apprenticeship can be free in some cases if you know the right people. Mostly, however, they are very expensive and can cost several thousands of dollars and they do not pay you for your time under an apprenticeship. This part makes it hard to have a job and the time to be an apprentice. Most people will live with someone else and hold down a regular job until the training is complete.
