That Guy!: Are there any particular Hotels that accept dogs?
I recently adopted a 2 year old GSD mix from the pound. My girlfriend and I often go away on weekends and stay in hotels. We do have family that is more than willing to sit him for us. However, we are planning a road trip and want him to come along. I have seen some hotels and motels that allow pets. Any particular brand of hotels that allow pets? He’s kennel kept at night and house broken. Any tips? suggestions? Knowledge of rules and regulations will be greatly appreciated.

I know that a lot of Super 8’s allow pets. Go to their website and do some research.

. Most motels allow small dogs. Some, however, are more pet friendly than others and some charge an additional fee. For a large breed dog you may have some troubles so calling ahead and asking is your best bet. Sorry I could not be more help there! As far as rules, most I have been at have a no dog left unattended in the room policy. This is whether they are kenneled or not. Main reason for this rule is to not have to deal with barking. The rest of the rules are common doggy etiquette rules…clean up after your pooch when outside etc.

Quite a few chains take dogs however not all take larger dogs (which I’m guessing yours is) A good starting point is petswelcome.com. They list both chains that as a rule take pets and individual establishments by city and state. Still check with each location before going however as policies change and the may have a limited number of rooms they allow pets in.

Just an idea here;
they pretty much all will make exceptions, just tell them its a seeing eye dog and your bringing to your poor sick grandmother whe is loosing her sight. I think there is probably a disability law for that

All hotels allow pets! All you have to do is beg them and they’ll let your dog in!

Of course there are hotels that allow dogs. Me and my family ALWAYS take our dog with us whenever we travel; never left him with a pet sitter or a family member to watch him.

Just call some hotels around the area that you’re planning to stay, and ask them if they allow dogs. That’s the easiest way; some of the same hotel brands allow dogs, but the same hotel brand in a different area will not so it’s best to call some in the area and ask them.

Motel 6 & La Quinta are 2 chain hotels that welcome dogs with no fees. Super 8 & Red Roof also allow dogs, sometimes they charge a pet fee.

Red Roof Inn, Marriot, Sheraton, Comfort Inn….most do but some accept small dogs only. Make sure you read the policies before you book.
