Bad Dude: Are credit card “convenience checks” accepted anywhere personal checks are?
Have got some bills that I might have to dig in to my credit to pay. Would a convenience check be accepted if regular checks are?

They should.
The convenience checks are accepted in more places than personal checks. But please read the fine print on your credit card agreement as there are most likely fees and a 10-24% interest rate. If you do use convenience checks, pay your credit card in full as soon as you can.

Answer by GYep, you can use it like a regular check. Keep in mind though that there’s usually a service fee associated with the amount you put on that check. It can be anywhere from 5-100 dollars, so check into it first (no pun intended).Answer by AL
Not always. Sometimes a convenience check will be denied even if everything is ok with the account, and it has plenty of available credit.
If you are in a store. Sometimes if the check is attempted by the merchant through “Check Systems” the account will come back denied. The reason comes back as “Account not found”. Most credit accounts are not entered in that system because the number on the bottom of the convenience checks is not your account number but a different number encoded for security reasons.
If you are doing online billpay or over the phone payments, then mail them the checks. Do not process on the computer entering the routing number and the account number that you see on the bottom either.
The best thing to do is to deposit the convenience check in your own checking account if you can, and then disburse funds where they need to go.
Answer by kgbbsc7You need to call the credit card company. I tried to “Bill Pay” something online where you enter the routing number and checking account number using a convience check. The convience check was rejected. I called and they said they don’t put your full account number on the convience check, so it was rejected using Bill PayAnswer by mslider2
I wouldnt use them.
Almost anyplace that would take them would also take a credit card for payment.
With the convenience check, it is just like a cash advance. The charge a very high rate of interest from the minute the check is cashed. 18-21 percent.
You are almost always better off putting the bill on your credit card.
