Peter: Student Credit Card with no credit history?
Hi i am a college student but my credit is clean and i would like to have a credit card just to make a purchase here and there and pay it off in full to start building up my credit. The problem is.. I have applied for a few student credit cards including Chase+1 and Discover. And i do have a checkings and savings account with Chase. But all of my applications have been denied so far because it states “INSUFFICIENT CREDIT HISTORY” or “No information in credit bureau”. So how do i get a credit card? Or do i have to do something else that would establish credit for me first?

A lot of banks offer specific types of credit cards for your situation (being in college). You have the right idea of building up your credit. I got my first credit card when i was a freshmen in college. It was a Visa from Citi bank. It was an MTVu credit card targeted towards college kids. I would recommend going to your bank (if you have one and if you don’t you need a checking account if you want a credit card) ask them what kinds of cards do they have for college kids. They should have an option for you. most likely you will get a $ 200-500 credit limit. Hoped this helped
