First time renting?
Looking at a new apartment complex which the rent is $ 950 or so a month I have no renting history due to I live at home with my parents I am 27 they are in there 70s so I am here to help them. My credit score is 709 right now but I am paying my credit cards off soon so it should go up. My gross income a month is $ 2000-$ 2200. Plan on moving in with my girlfriend she is 23 she makes $ 1500-$ 1800 lives with her dad but a few years ago with her ex they broke a lease and somehow didnt pay the part of the rent. Will we have a problem with her broken lease and another problem with a medical bill. I just am looking to see if anyone thinks we would have a problem or just be asked to put a high deposit down. Thanks for your time

probably both
They may call your parents to see what kind of “tenant” you are (they called mine). Your credit score isn’t that bad and there is no reason I can see that they would refuse YOU. As for your girlfriend, breaking a lease won’t help her. They may also have you co-sign in case your girlfriend skips out on her half of the rent, you will agree to cover it.
I’ve never head of someone asking you to put a high deposit down. Its usually approved or not approved.

Your credit score is at a low risk so no you should not have to put a high deposit down. It seems to me that you are in a better financial position than you think you are. I have a lower credit number than you and I make about $ 2300 per month, I am currently renting for $ 950 also for a 1 bedroom, you will have no problem! Before I started renting this apartment I also did not have any history of renting, you will be fine.Answer by David M
Landlord can require up to three time the monthly rent just to get into the apartment. ($ 950 rent $ 950 security deposit $ 950 last month’s rent) Landlords tend to do this to screen out tenants they don’t want. If you get a lease and break it you may end up paying the balance on the time you leased the apartment. Read the contract carefully. Be aware also that landlords tend to like to come in to inspect the premises whenever they feel like it when you are not at home (just to make sure you are not wrecking the place). This is a common story told by landlords to prospective tenants. READ THE LEASE CONTRACT AGREEMENT CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING ANYTHING!!!!!!!
