Hi, Generally, most states require you to be 10 years older than the child you’re adopting. In order to adopt, you need an approved home study. The home study tries to ensure you’re able to provide the child with a loving, stable home.
Once you’re older, have completed your schooling and are settled in a career, I hope you will consider adopting through the foster care system. Best Wishes !

In California, the adoptive parent must be at least 10 years older than the child. I’m not sure of the age difference requirements in Colorado.
