So last week i get a call from a company that i had applied for a job at. They want me to come in Friday for a interview. Im like great! The lady tells me show up Friday at 5:30 PM at the loading dock entrance of building A….ring the buzzer. The office will be closed then so go to the shipping area and ask for such and such. Im like…OK…thats strange. A job interview that late in the evening? But whatever. I didnt question it.
So i show up, go to the area where i was told, ring this bell, a couple guys happen to be coming out the door at the same time. I ask for the person i needed to see. They go find him for me. After what seems like 10 minutes this guy shows up, he had no clue who i was or why i was there. I explained that i was told by a lady on the phone to come here and ask for him regarding possible employment. He was clueless as to all of this. I left.
Have you ever had such a strange “job interview” before?
Should i even check into this further if they call again?
BTW, this was a job at a factory, but it is a very large company with 4 new buildings less than 5 years old in my neighborhood. I thought for certain they would be more professional than that.

I would try and get a hold of their hiring department and explain what happened. I work at a rather large company and applicants get lost all the time.

There could be a possibility that the person who set up the interview forgot to tell the hiring manager. I would definitely get to the bottom of it and find out what happened.

No, but I had a friend whose husband was an officer in a good sized corporation. I asked her to ask her husband to facilitate a job interview for a friend. Needless to say, he never got an interview there, though the husband’s secretary pretended to try to help for a while. Years later, I found out that this woman was angry with me for years for not thanking her forhelping with this job interview, which my friend never got. People are funny, eh?

That is a strange one. It does make you wonder how they are running things there. But maybe the lady gave you the wrong persons name by mistake-there could be a dozen things that could lead to this.
Just out of curiosity you probably should call her back and explain things to her, to see what went wrong.
