Lothar F: Yahoo encourages spam and avoids telling you how to remove it There is a way without leaving the group?
I’ve removed calendar spam before without resigning from the group it came thru. Why can’t Yahoo give a straightforward answer? Are they protecting calendar spammers?

In my experience, Yahoo is anti-spam. I have noticed that when I sign up to anything Yahoo, I am given the option to minimise the amount of mail generated. The fact that I have to opt out and that this is not made very clear does not make it spam.
Rather than leave the group, I would look for preferences or profile settings and make sure I was not allowing my in box to fill with unwanted material. Then, I might think about whether I could tolerate what was left before leaving the group.
I have no idea what you mean by calendar spamming as I do not get any. Can you be more descriptive without compromising your anonymity?
On your subsidiary question, have you ever had a straightforward answer from anyone in a similar position to Yahoo. They are protecting their ass(ets) by following legal advice. As to protecting calendar spammers, I have never known Yahoo to actively protect them. I have never known Yahoo to actively do anything that takes time, money or effort without a great deal of complaints from pressure groups.
