Michele: How do I help a co-worker with Social Anxiety?
I have a co-worker who shared with me that they have Social Anxiety (SA). I always noticed that my co-worker seemed a little anxious, and always ended every sentence with an awkward giggle. I also noticed that my co-workers hands shake (almost like Parkinson’s) when using the computer.
I am a trainer, so this means I have to be in close proximity to my co-workers when I am educating them.
What can I do to help?

You can help by telling her that the anxiety she feels may be a sign that she is afraid of failing, and, in particular, failing to live up to the expectations of her friends and/or co-workers.
Just try to convince her that we don’t really fail in life; we just learn from our experiences and become more proficient over time.
