NONAME: Why is it legal to euthanize pets that are not even sick or with something curable?
I get mad every time I hear people saying that they are going to put down their pets because they don’t have time to take care of them (which is usually said with a lame excuse), and those who’s doing the same for pets with broken bones. In that case, we should also euthanize people with broken legs or harms, and children with parents who cannot take care of them properly. As you can see, it’s completely illogical, so it’s the same with pets. What do you think?

A dog will warn you about strangers and help protect your home, a cat will catch mice for you. A kid will shi+ his pants for the first 3-4 years, and there’s no guarantee it will even give a damn about you when you get old.Answer by J B
Unfortunately, pets are (historically, and for the most part still today) considered property. And you can do whatever you want with your own property.
But then there are the laws that prevent cruelty to animals. In any jurisdiction, it is not considered a violation of the anti-cruelty laws to put down an animal for almost any reason: it’s terminally ill, it’s going to be abandoned, it is abandoned and we need to make more room to keep strays off the street… (i.e., control the pet population).
I understand your frustration though. When I was a kid, I had a friend whose family got a dog. Well, it was a puppy, and of course puppies are hyper, but the mom decided that she didn’t want a hyper dog, so she had it put to sleep. She had actually purchased it from a pet store. So that purchase was the poor pup’s death sentence. Never forgot that.
