Because it’s not plastic or aluminum. Don’t they continue to live for a little while after being chopped? Hmmmmnever thought about it.

Because it’s not fake. DUH!! Where is your brain today? Even though it’s chopped down and technically not connected to the actual roots anymore, it is still living, at least for a little bit longer.
