Why do some religions put the life of the fetus above the life of the mother?

Marian: Why do some religions put the life of the fetus above the life of the mother?
That’s the only question. No wide open discussion on abortion.

Just why in some religions is the life of the mother worth less than the life of the fetus.

A couple of people told me it is because the fetus might be a male (religions decided this before ultrasound and amnio) but it couldn’t be just that, could it?
I was thinking Catholicism, but I didn’t specify, least I be accused of bashing.

There may be others, but I do not know.

As for the Mosaic religions, Islam, Judaism and some Protestant religions allow abortion to save a woman’s life.

Maybe it’s because the baby is ‘pure’ and ‘uncorrupted’ and has not yet had a chance to live.

If you’re referring to religious sects that wouldn’t permit abortion, even when the life of the mother is in jeopardy, I suppose it comes down to God’s will being of paramount importance. Even if His will is that the woman dies.

Don’t believe what everyone tells you. Which religion is this ? I’ve never heard of it. If there is such a religion then why do they do such a practice is a question that can be debated for infinity.

Both lives are valuable. I don’t know of a religion that does that, but by your description it sounds like an Asian one. It’s sad if they do that.

because she has lived for years. The unborn needs a chance to live at least. Give it a chance. It’s a new life and deserves to be given a life. If you don’t like that, keep your legs closed.

I don’t know anyone who puts the baby before the mom. I wouldn’t want either of them killed.
