Lauren: Why do people say “Merry christmas and a happy new year”?
Rather than “Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year”?
This is probably a stupid question,
But I’d still like to know : )
Thanks x
Thanks Hello Jello I find it interesting too.
Some of these are alright answers.
But Utek, c’mon is there any need?
Who said “the rules” we’re set in stone.
Thanks everyone else : ) x

Recognize this song?
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas;
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin;
Good tidings for Christmas and a Happy New Year.
It’s believed to date back to the 1500’s. It’s just a deep rooted tradition.
No-one knows exactly where it came from but saying or singing it I guess it sounds a bit better that way around.
No, Some A holes are changing it to Happy Holliday and Holliday shoping,
these People should gat a life and Keep Christ in Christmas.
