Laura B: Why do celebs get such special treatment from the law?
So Paris Hilton was let out of jail after only serving a 5 day sentance instead of her 23 (already reduced from 40). Supposingly she had some “medical problem”. So now she gets to serve the rest of her time confined to her home. Which I am sure is not that bad. Why do celebs get this treatment and do you think it is fair?

it aint right its flat wrong! it shows that money and fame make people above the Law. really it is only in LA Calif where you can buy your way out of trouble. But, think of this, celebrity status generates a large part of livelyhood to this region and so maybe in a way the local govt in calif let these things slide because the city gets money in the long run. that is to say thru movies the celebs make and the tourism that follows means more for the local economy
just one possible theory
I’m sure it’s bevause they can make hefty “donations.”
The avergae woman would have had a year in county prison probably for what Paris did.
It’s not fair, but regular people don’t have the money to afford the type of lawyers celebs can.

In this country people with money have always wielded the power. It has never been about fairness.Answer by bonusgrabber.com
Because the American public allow them to get away with it. If you don’t like the special treatment, voice your opinion to the ones who are granting it. Call the judges, prosecutors, senators, governors, media, etc.and PROTEST!!!Answer by sophieb
it’s not just celebs, it’s anyone who is wealthy, and it’s because they have the ability/money to hire high class attorneys who (are paid well so as to find the loopholes). Anybody can do that, just earn the money to back your own situations. Most wealthy people have their money because it was passed down from generation to generation.
