It makes them look even better in their public image, and it gets more recognized, and other wealthy people would be more likely to make donations

So that after they donate money to their own foundation other fans of that person will donate or even other celebs.
The Jonas Brothers made a large foundation that has multiple charities in it. So when you donate it goes to all of them at once.
