Why do americans watch soccer only during the world cup?

Veeman: Why do americans watch soccer only during the world cup?
I have realized that americans don’t watch soccer, ever. Only when there is a big tournament like the World Cup. I want to know why.

they dont like soccer at all. they only watch it during big tournaments because if they have friends of a different race who actually like it they try to look good if they talk about it.

even if the americans are playing for the championship game at WC(which isn’t going to happen for a long time), you’ll find about 20% of americans watching it.

they generally think the sport is boring. and they grew up playing other sports instead of soccer.

oh..one more thing. football and basketball games have cheerleaders. 🙂

i love EPL btw. and i don’t live in the states.

Because Soccer is not in their DNA and most the people who’re in charged about the game puts the money above everything else and it’ll never work..they need to make some sacrifices by broadcasting live games to introduce the game & the players to the public and as soon as they get to know the players and what clubs they play for they’ll start to follow the games to find out who’s who and where their favorite club stands! but they must be connected to the game by watching it all the time…for God’s sake Mexico broadcast three
to SEVEN games every week end alone !!!!
the other day the U.S.were playing against South Africa and I watched it on FSC but how many more Americans were able to watch it ?

Well your question is actually the answer.

All over the world, we call the game as “Football” except in USA where you call it “Soccer” since you have your own football version of which is slightly similar to a game we call rugby.

I still cant understand why you call “American Football” as “Football” when you actually only kick the ball after the touchdown for extra point. I actually enjoy “American Football” just dont understand why it is called that way.

I am not able to go to soccer games, but I watch it on tv. If you watched any games you would see that there are thousands of people who also watch. They are all sitting in the stands! I love soccer. I have family members who play it on college teams, and I live in Houston where the Dynamo just won their second MLS championship in a row!
