How do they compete against the larger hotels in the houston area. My best friend told me that men go inside to pick up prostitutes and the motel charges them by the hour – hence, thats how they make their money. But I thought prostitution is illegal in Texas?

Drugs, murder, and a lot of other things are illegal in Texas and elsewhere, but they still happen.

there are so many motels bc there are so many people who pick up prostitutes and take them back to the rooms, sell drugs out of them, and use them to cheat on their mates. pay by the hr motels having been popping up on every corner in houston for yrs and they actually compete well. a lot of teenagers and young adults use motels too for sex. some are really rigid about age and who they let in to do what. others dont care what goes on. but there are ways around all of that.

those type of motels is used for sex, drug transactions etc

prostitutes go there, adulterers and cheaters go there….you name it….it happens

Define “so many” small hotels. In what area of town is this? I live on the west side and work in the Stafford/Sugarland area and I see none of this. My wife works on 290 and I don’t see this in her area either.

By the way, prostitution is illegal in every state of the union, with the exception of a few counties in Nevada (no, it doesn’t include Las Vegas).

So, your best friend told you? How did he find out? Through someone else? Et cetera, et cetera?

Motels don’tcharge by the hour here. That is illegal. Has been since 2006.
