Coog75: Which exam should I get first for police academy?
I am hoping to get into the Houston Community College police academy and I need to get a psychological and physical exam. I have been having some breathing issues as of late and while I don’t think it is a big issues, I want to get it checked out. I was planning to get my psych exam tomorrow morning, but now I am thinking I should get my physical first and then go from there. The psych exam is 100 and the physical about 80. Any advice?

Physical..
I graduated from HCC Academy in November of 2010. I’m here to tell you that the PT is serious. If you think you may be having a problem, I urge you to get checked out. Coach Carfield beats the hell out of you for 5 of the approximately 6 months you are in the program. I broke my foot 4 days into the Academy, and didn’t say anything. It was the most miserable 5 months running, doing towers, insanity drills etc. I was a Marine sometime ago, and I found the PT strenuous. If you’re not in shape now, i suggest you get there before starting. Definitely get your physical first. On a positive note, I did get in great shape and started working for a department 40 days after. 4 people who couldn’t pass the PT and academics from my class are currently enrolled in UofH, and Lonestar. They brag about how easy it is compared to HCC. My response is, what happens when you need to complete your PAT for a department? Your TCLEOSE Cert isn’t any good if you cant hire on to an agency.Answer by Michelle Mcbeth
As for me. you should do your physical exam first. Its more important since it sets you. Also, the physical exam is quite easy compared to the psych one (according to me). But generally, the reason why it is better to do the physical exam first is that, it will set up your psychological aspects and it makes you more fit to take the psych exam. For sure, you will get better results if you do that way.
